1960's  TV was the family campfire.
Jim has invited you to join his family tonight
around the 60's black and white and remember.

"Television was big in our home.  You knew exactly
what day it was and what time it was by what was on
television. When we got back from Ansonia on Saturday
night, one of the more fun traditions was the
whole family sitting down to watch The Jackie          By James Murphy
Gleason Show. My family would really howl during
this program, but we all lived for the last few minutes of the show.
That's when Frank Fontaine did the Crazy
Gugheheine  act.  We thought  he was an
absolute riot. Then at the end of the skit ...."

"Another great tradition in the 60's was the
annual showing of The Wizard of Oz. Of course, nowadays you
can rent the video any time you want,  but half of the fun of
that movie was the anticipation of the event. It was usually
shown on Sunday night, and the whole family was parked
in front of the television getting ready for it. The best
character by far was the Cowardly Lion."
Can you remember where you heard -
"Sock it to me"                "Just the facts ma'am"
"Yabba, dabba, do!"      "Beam me up Scotty"
"Hey, Mr. Wilson"            "Danger Will Robinson"
                    "Shazaam, shazaam, shazaam"
