Presented from a mostly first-person perspective, the novel treats readers to views of the beginnings of the LDS church through the 'words' of some of its most important players, as well as some not so well-known. Readers will be delighted as they imagine hearing the stories in the first person, as if it were from the perspective of the speaker. The story of David Whitmer is quite nicely done and especially poignant.
