As water flows through the magnetic field, the minerals in the water are polarized and remain in liquid suspension which eliminates the problem of these particles clinging to water pipes, water heater and heating elements.

What happens is scale forming minerals end up suspended in the water - not on the pipes - and all scale which was previously on the pipes prior to this system being installed is magnetically attracted to the water and starts to let loose of the pipe which de scales the pipes. This de scaling period takes two to six months, depending on how much water you run through your pipes. During this period the scale that is removed from pipes goes to the bottom of the water heater. It is therefore recommended that during the first five months you drain two or three quarts of water from the lower tap.

This basic technology has been used in heavy industry for years for control of scale, algae and corrosion. What is new is the use of high technology magnets. With these new designs the same technology is now small enough and powerful enough to be practical to use in homes, pools and spas.
