About the Artist:
Charles Leonard was born in North Carolina and raised in Sarasota, Florida. He graduated cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and holds a Master's of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Georgia. Mr. Leonard has exhibited his paintings for the past 25 years and is represented in collections throughout the US, Canada, Western Europe, the Bahamas, South America, New Zealand and Japan. His work is included in several public museums in Georgia, as well as public university and private commercial collections.

For the last 18 years, Mr. Leonard has concentrated his energy on the production of hand-colored and multicolored etchings. He has acquired the most diverse collection of editions offered by any artist in America. His subject matter is varied: African Animals, cats, dogs, birds of prey, coastal birds, beetles, frogs and most notably fish. Mr. Leonard is noted for his vast array of fish etchings…over 25 editions featuring both fresh and saltwater species as well as fishing lures and fly rods. Each of these hand produced etchings has a limited edition size of 400.
About the Etchings:
Mr. Leonard uses 2 types of paper. Each is 100% rag and of the highest quality printmaking papers. If your prints appear to be printed (pulled) on cream or "buff" colored paper it would be a stock made by Somerset which is from St. Cuthberts Mill in England. The paper is mold made, acid free and 240lb/1000. Etchings appearing bright white are a Rives BFK; 100% rag also acid free. It is not that one paper is any better than the other that determines Mr. Leonard's choice. It is more the look he is after and the motif of the etching.
