My love of photography started many decades ago as a young girl, who was lucky enough to have a great Dad who was also a terrific photographer. So, my first 35mm training was ‘home schooled’! Years later, I would graduate from Carnegie Mellon University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, specializing in Photography. At that time, much of my emphasis was on fine art photography, particularly black and white, and good old darkroom work! Ah, yes, the darkroom. There are still a few functioning units left!
The majority of my career has been spent at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History as Staff Photographer and Image Rights & Reproductions Administrator. As staff photographer, my experience has ranged from extensive still photography to event, on-location, portrait and documentation photography. A few key projects have included photographing 700 Egyptian artifacts, traveling to Kenya , Egypt , Alaska and Dinosaur National Monument to photograph scenes with 4 x 5 color transparencies for enlargement into murals, some murals, 30 feet wide. I have had the opportunity to photograph on Indian Reservations in Arizona and South Dakota . On the homefront, I have covered museum galas, press previews, documented the complete renovation of our Dinosaur Hall, and marketed museum images to publishing companies and chamber of commerce offices.
All the while, my passion for photography does not take a backseat in my private life. With my love for both photography and travel, I have built a stock file of images from around the United States: Wyoming, South Dakota, the Southwest USA (National Parks, ghost towns, etc), and Nevada (including night shots of the Las Vegas Strip and Freemont Street), Pennsylvania and its neighboring states, New England and the Outer Banks. My archives include an extensive collection of images from the Caribbean, Mexico , Scotland , England , Greece , Turkey , Italy and Africa . I also have thousands of stock images of model-released children and families of all ages in natural, candid settings.
My work is available for stock and editorial use. All photographs are available for reproduction in calendars, publications, for use on book covers, book jackets and any other printed materials agreed upon. The majority of my images are available as either 35mm slides, or high-resolution digitals. I am also available for on-location assignments.
With my experience photographing black tie events at the museum, I transferred those skills to wedding photography almost a decade ago. As a Pittsburgh-based wedding photographer who specializes in creative Documentary Style Wedding Photography, I am available for local weddings, as well as destination weddings.
