DEDICATION

To my mother, Vernelda Bueno, who taught me to believe in myself and how to spell.

To my friends and coworkers, in the "Cubicle Maze", who encouraged me in this project without really understanding where it was going or why I was doing it.

But most of all, to the woman I love, my wife Linda, who encouraged me, prodded me, proofread for me, and loved me throughout the process of writing this book. The vow should read "Till death do we part, or until he decides to be an author".

THE AUTHOR

Michael Howard, while new to professional writing scene, has had a few pieces published in local publications. These include articles in school newspapers, as well as poetic and humorous contributions to military publications, while he was in the US Air Force.

An avid student of the spiritual, Michael is a voracious reader and can frequently be found attending seminars on various aspects of spiritual growth. His attitude toward personal growth is best summed up in one of his favorite sayings, "If you're not learning, you're not living."

Michael's material draws from a wide range of influences, since he feels that inspiration is not only to be found in the various holy books of the world. This is why you may find a reference to Deepak Chopra on one page and a quote from Yoda on the next.

As a computer professional, Michael brings a new logical approach to his spiritual insights. As a fan of science fiction, he allows his mind to go beyond the accepted catechisms of today. And as a student of truth, he is not afraid to express what he has come to know.

For a commentary that he wrote, Rainy Day World: A Sane Approach to the Middle East, he won Honorable Mention in the Writer's Digest 2000 Writers Competition.

The ideas in it are moving, enlightening, and I found myself deeply affected by them. As a matter of fact, I'm having trouble getting your book out of my head today so that I can do my own work.

Anyway, I just wanted to say "bravo" about your beautiful piece of work. Thanks." —Michael Nankin, Producer FOX Television

"If you are a seasoned metaphysical practitioner or just getting your toe wet - afraid to get in the water - Angels On Assignment is for you. I was born and raised in a metaphysical home. As I was reading the book - right off the bat - I got a new Guiding Angel that has helped me in an area I have needed help.

This is the first book in all of my years of study - that provided that "service" getting the right Spirit Guide.

When you are ready for unseen help from the other side - this is the book for you." — Daze' Lisenkoff, Ph.D., C.Ht. — Radio and TV talk show host, author, Coach and Seminar Leader.

This is a must-read story for anyone who seeks contact with the angels, but hasn't quite got there yet. "Angels On Assignment" is a refreshing blend of wisdom, heart, and hope; a tale that combines all the elements of what a great story should be, while managing to enlighten, uplift and touch the soul all at the same time. I was asked to write this review of the novel, "Angels On Assignment," by a fresh new writer named Michael John Howard. Having not read many spiritually related "fiction" stories, I expected maybe a warm, cute story about a chance encounter with an angel, since I knew it involved angels in some way. I had no idea I was in for such a treat. This is highly inspired writing! Now, the author calls this a work of "fiction," which, on one hand I can believe since the story-line seemed far out at first: A man stumbles upon a gorgeous, hide-away retreat and spa where angels unwind from their ever-present divine duties. However, the story is told with such clarity, wisdom and a heartfelt "knowing," that it becomes hard for me to believe this is "just" a work of fiction. As for whether or not the many conversations with these glorious angels actually took place, is up to the reader to decide. This reviewer happens to think they did. At the very least, the angels, or the author's angel-self (higher-self) had a hand in this story. It's that good! The author presents a wide range of spiritual teachings through his extremely vibrant characters and from his own experience that are easily understood: profound metaphysical truths that even a child would love to explore. Read this story and hear what the angels have to say! —Keith Varnum, author and seminar leader, as it appeared in THE DREAM DAILY SUN.

THE BOOK

Angels On Assignment takes the reader on journey of enlightenment to a heavenly spot high in mountains of Oregon.

Wandering the lavish halls and sumptuous gardens, every step brings you closer to a full knowledge of your true nature, an understanding of how the universe works, and the reason we all are here. Everyone you meet lovingly shares their part of this empowering message.

What is this place? Who, are these people?

This place is the Pinhead Buttes Resort.

These people are angels on vacation. Angels who see the perfection in each day and in everything. Angels who laugh and play. Angels who want to help their guests discover and experience their true potential.

Come and be their guest. Come dance and play with them Angels On Assignment.

Angels On Assignment is a first person narrative of a visit to a resort where all of the guests, except the narrator, are angels on vacation. It is filled with episodes of fun and frivolity; intermixed with profound lessons, exploring the nature of our reality and our existence in the universe.

The author chose the first person narrative style for two reasons.

First, because it draws the reader into the story, let's them become the main character. This is also the reason that he purposely never mentions the name of the main character nor his wife.

Secondly, this is one of things that he sees as being part of the enormous success of books like The Celestine Prophesies.

Similarly, Angels On Assignment tells the story of a spiritual journey. lnstead of taking the reader to the jungles of South America, however, it introduces them to a group of angelic guides and treats them to a visit to a breathtaking resort in central Oregon.
