ACKNOWLEGMENTS
I would like to thank my daughter-in-law Tina, who with a single word stirred to life the spark of a writer within my soul. I would also like to thank my critique group at Kathy's Kitchen, Penny Guinta, Judy Sullivan, Meribel Blanchard, Marilyn Robbins, and MaryAnn O'Neill for all their encouragement and support. And with much love, I would like to thank my family and husband for believing in my dream.
THE AUTHOR
Kathy, a native New Yorker, was a nurse for some twenty odd years, her love of caring for people extremely rewarding. What spare time she had was divided between family and friends. Kathy's passion for writing bloomed late in life with a single word that haunted her until she put pen to paper and her first story was born. Now that she's retired, Kathy devotes all her time to her new love, writing.
THE BOOK
Accepting that her life will be loveless, Raven Brody sets out for town and a marriage of convenience, until a Comanche war party snatches her from her ranch, putting a quick end to the sham. But when she faces the savage leader, Nightwolf, it's her heart she must battle or chance losing her soul.
Nightwolf, the chief of the Comanche, is forced to claim the young woman as his, to protect her from his friend and blood brother, but despite her fear, sharp tongue, and fiery spirit, it's his heart that becomes captured by the beauty.
SYNOPSIS
Raven Brody wants to prove she can run her farm alone because she's plagued by guilt at not being the son her father so desperately wanted, but as fate would have it, it's her femininity that will ultimately save the homestead when she is forced to accept a marriage proposal of convenience with Matt. However on the day of her wedding, her home is raided by a band of Comanche's and she's taken captive.
Nightwolf the chief of the Comanche, wants no part of white captives because in his eyes they're weak, but he's forced to claim the young woman as his, to protect her from Gray Coyote, his friend and blood brother, but because of her sharp tongue he must take her to his hunting lodge to teach her the ways of his people or chance having to punish her for her quick outbursts.
During a short period of time, they face many trials and tribulations, there's Raven's abduction by Comancheros, where they leave Nightwolf for dead, then her attempt to escape that is foiled by a vicious bear attack. Nightwolf leaps in to protect her and is seriously wounded by the crazed animal. However, Nightwolf recovers but it's the unfortunate appearance of Gray Coyote and news of an Apache attack on their village that delays yet another of Raven's attempts to escape.
Still to come are the unwanted affections of a Kiowa brave that threaten her place at Nightwolf's side, a forced marriage, and a botched rescue effort.
Nonetheless, Nightwolf and Raven do succumb to some heated kisses, surrender to some forbidden touches, and give way to lustful desires.
SAMPLE
"It is not harm from Nightwolf you fear, little one." His voice vibrated with accusation. "Most of what you say is true, but I acted out our destiny. What you fear is how Nightwolf makes you feel when you are in his arms." He pulled her to him. "No, little one, it is not me you fear, but yourself. That is why you ran."
"That's not true."
Pulling her to him, Nightwolf's warm breath blended with hers. "Say the lying words now, little one. Tell me you feel nothing. Tell me that your body even now is not crying out for mine."
Raven struggled against him as he lowered his face to hers. When he took her lips in a forceful kiss, she opened her mouth to scream. He thrust his tongue deep, cutting off the sound. Sensation after sensation spiraled through her, making her body limp with desire. His arms tightened around her waist holding her more fully against him. His hardened manhood pulsed against her belly, assaulting her with a barrage of unfamiliar longings. He ended the kiss and held her at arm's length.
"You can lie to yourself, little one, but your body wants what I offer, even if you choose to deny it." His voice was low and raspy with passion. "What passes between us is strong. Do not fear what we will share."

"Go ahead and beat me, if that is what you plan to do," she challenged, to hide her shame and fear. "Just don't ever touch me again. I want you to keep your filthy hands to yourself," she continued, her voice growing louder with each word. "You're always touching me and I want you to stop. I don't like when you touch me. Do you hear me?" she yelled, her frustration of the past several days reaching its peak.
"Don't touch me," she gasped, as her rage simmered to a fizzle. She allowed the tears to fall unchecked down her flushed cheeks when she gazed up into his handsome face. The shocking evidence of her violent blow glowed red on his bronzed skin.
"I hear you," he growled, stepping closer to her. "The trees hear you. Even the animals hear you," he stated, ignoring her obvious distress. "Now, little one, hear me.

Her lips still tingled from his recent kiss. She touched them gently, wondering what it would be like if she turned and asked him to make love to her. When he drew her even deeper into the curve of his body, her insides quivered in answer, crying out for the forbidden.
Confused by the power of her attraction to the man lying beside her, she gazed up at the heavens. "Dear Lord," she prayed, "give me the strength to endure that which is to come and the courage to escape before I vanish into his world." But as she waited for sleep to claim her, where in the world of dreams she could fulfill the desires she denied herself in reality, she knew it was already too late.
