THE AUTHOR
Mary Ann Reed is a housewife. Before beginning her writing career, she worked as a private secretary at several firms in the area. She is married, with two sons, a granddaughter and grandson. Writing is one of her passions.
Suzanne Merritt currently works for a local school district. She is married, with two daughters, a granddaughter and three grandsons. She also loves to write.
They live in the small town of Fairmont City, Illinois, just seven miles from St. Louis, Missouri.
THE BOOK
Sheri finds keeping Richter Mill from going bankrupt proving more difficult than she realized after her father's death. She uncovers, by accident, the embezzlement in the company records committed by her father, J. D. Richter.
Concealing the secret from her mother begins to put a nervous strain on Sheri. She isn't ready to believe that J. D. Richter has cheated Logan Enterprise, but she can't deny the evidence after finding the second ledger book.
The appearance of Casey Logan, owner of Logan Enterprise, into her life sets off a chain of disturbing events. Her first impression of him, is how arrogant and self-centered he appears. He lets her know that he has knowledge of her father's fraud and how he cheated his company.
Sheri is left speechless when she hears Casey Logan's proposal of marriage to her. She wonders why a virtual stranger would want her to be his wife when he knows her father was deceitful in doing business with his company.
An erotic, sizzling union follows their sudden marriage.
Charismatic Casey and Sheri's lives intertwined in a book dealing with sensual lovemaking, blackmail and secrets that neither can tell the other. This work will keep a reader wondering if they eventually confess and tell each other the truth of their true feelings.
EXCERPTS
Logan Enterprise was her father's largest customer, ordering sizable amounts of timber. Sheri's gaze skimmed the columns taking note of the quantity of red and white oak ordered by Logan. Penciled in notes in her father's handwriting answered her questions of why Richter Mill was in such financial trouble at the moment.
Her father had managed to skim money from Richter Mill by shortchanging a few of his customers. Logan Enterprise was the one receiving the impact of his dishonest practices.
"You look as if you have good news for me." She suddenly felt her spirits lifting.
"I do," he confirmed her words. "This morning I received a call from a very influential man. He's the owner of Logan Enterprise."
"Lo...gan Enterprise," she stammered. That was the name of the company in the ledger book she'd locked away in her safe at home.
"Yes, Logan Enterprise," he told her. "Casey Logan called me personally at the office this morning. I don't have a clue to how he knew who I was, but that's beside the point. I wasn't about to question him."
"What did he want?" she asked stiffly as she tried controlling the rapid beat of her heart. She automatically lifted her hand to her chest and could feel the hard thump pounding away. Wild thoughts raced through her head wondering if Casey Logan had found out about the fraud of her father
"You're not asking me, you're telling me!" she stormed in a whisper.
"You're right, I am," Casey admitted reaching for her.
Without warning his lips captured her mouth in a kiss that blocked out any more form of protest she could make. Slowly, his tongue wedged her lips apart and she felt her head swirl with pleasure at his caress.
It took only seconds for Casey to lift her easily and place her on the bed. Sheri felt lost under his passionate kisses as he continued to rain them across her cheeks, neck and back to her mouth. She felt his tongue pressing into her mouth and finding hers.
The moment of sanity had come and gone for her. As if in a daze, she felt his hands unbuttoning her jeans and the tender strokes of his fingertips gliding down through the silky panties he was removing. Spasms rocked her body when he slowly lowered his head and captured her nipple between his soft lips.
His mouth moved with purpose, kissing every new spot that he came to along her creamy body. She felt on fire as he continued to explore the hidden zone of delight between her thighs. His tongue stroked gently and she felt the frenzy of desire for him filling her. She couldn't get enough of his tenderness.
When he removed his clothing swiftly, she felt delighted in looking at the rippling muscles that she'd only imagined before. Now, they were uncovered for her full view of them. Her hands reached up and softly stroked his chest coming to rest on the hard appendage raised in wanting her. Her fingers glided gently across it until she felt his body shake with a hard shudder.
For the longest time, Casey stood staring across at her. She didn't know when it happened, but she found herself nestled in his warm arms. The towel dropped away and fell to the floor.
Slowly, he lowered his head and his mouth captured hers. Hot sparks flew between them creating an electricity that couldn't be put out. He gently lifted her and placed her on the bed. As he stared down at her, she watched him quickly dropping his clothing in a heap on the floor.
When he joined her, she felt his mouth claim hers in a searing kiss. Sensuous kisses followed as they led a trail down her body. She wiggled in excitement with each new spot that he touched with his flicking tongue.
Sheri felt a tickling sensation across her throat during the night. She reached up and brushed her hand toward it and felt something solid. When she raised her head, she felt lips covering hers in a plundering exploration.
Desire swiftly swept through her building into an inferno. She opened her eyes sleepily and wondered if she was still dreaming. But the familiar hard body of Casey's pressed to hers, proved her wrong. She wasn't dreaming at all.
"Casey," Sheri said his name with a moaning sound.
His lips moved slowly to the hollow of her throat sending electric shock waves through her. Her head lifted as she searched for the sweet nectar of his kiss. Finding the source in the darkness, she felt swept along into a whirlpool of passion.
Arching her body to his, she felt his hair roughened chest pressing into her breasts and she loved the feeling. Her hands moved slowly across his muscled thighs and she felt his quick response to her caresses.
His mouth moved with purpose down her entire body finding every sensual spot that she owned. The seething tempo of her insides felt like a volcano about to erupt into spewing white hot lava throughout her.
