About the author:

Amber Jo Illsley is a former freelance journalist who lives in New Zealand's South Island. She recently gave up journalism after 12 years, because it 'wasn't creative enough', to concentrate on the completion of several novels and beginning new novels. All have ripples of humour prancing through them. A keen supporter of the rights for animals, the author enjoys all of God's creatures - but especially cats.

Now living in Christchurch on the South Island's East Coast, the author is a country girl at heart and is living in the city, as she puts it: 'only as a means to an end'.

About the book:

This is the second in a series about author Amber Jo Illsley's cat Reilly…in full: Seamus O'Reilly. A semi-fictional, illustrated story of around 56,000 words, Reilly continues his antics and witty repartee with the author, inviting occasional interjections from the sleepy and long-suffering Katie O'Brien, Reilly's girlfriend.

"All Due To Reilly" covers several years in which the author and her cats move to several different addresses, mainly to do with the course of the author's work. The big move from west to east and then to Switzerland, for the author at least, incurs recriminations and the subsequent disappearance of Reilly - only for him to reappear months later to resume his lofty household position.

From Reilly's viewpoint, the world is a fascinating place and he is the most fascinating part of it - according to him. A chauvinist to the worst degree, he still manages to ingratiate himself with many of the people he comes in contact with - providing he leaves his claws sheathed - but is more than content to make enemies of most other cats, except Katie. And even she is not exempt from Reilly's bullying ways, although she does have some subtle methods of her own in getting around Reilly.

Reilly is both a bully and an adorable cat, hence the name for the first in this series: "Reilly - A Dreadful, Adorable Cat".

This new story brings the reader up to present times in Reilly's life and misdemeanours.
