Our Staff

Tom Seguin is the founder and owner of Suncoast Gemological Laboratory. Tom is a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and a tested and certified senior member of the American Society of Appraisers, holding the coveted Master Gemologist Appraiser designation. He is a member of the GIA Alumni Association and the Accredited Gemologist Association.

In addition to his many contributions and associations throughout the Jewelry Industry, Tom is very active in the local Bradenton community. He is a board member of the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and a member of its Economic Development Council. He is on a number of boards locally including the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Manatee, the Manatee Community College Foundation and the Bradenton Rotary.

In a personal highlight, Tom was selected to carry the Olympic Torch during its travel through Florida. A truly memorable event for Tom and his family.

As a certified Gemologist/Appraiser, Tom can certify the quality of the loose diamond you purchase as well as interpret market forces to determine optimum value. Tom's expertise and ethical reputation have been utilized by local investigative reporters to expose unscrupulous jewelry operations. Tom regularly provides free seminars in the Bradenton area teaching about loose diamond buying and providing tips on unethical and illegal practices common in the industry. He has put together a free brochure on the subject that is available upon request locally and via e-mail.

Tom's wife, Donna Seguin, is also a Graduate Gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Donna is actively involved in selecting and purchasing diamonds and other fine jewelry for Suncoast Gem Labs as well as working closely with customers to meet their needs and ensure satisfaction. Donna was selected to participate in the Leadership Manatee program sponsored by the Manatee Chamber of Commerce and is looking forward to contributing to the future of Manatee County.
